Manatee Radius and Ulna - High Resolution Scan
pinshape
Scan of Florida Manatee Radius and Ulna (Forearm) This scan showcases a genuine Florida manatee radius and ulna, featuring the remarkable anatomy of this critically endangered species. The state mammal of Florida, Trichechus manatus, is on loan from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and carefully curated at the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University South Bend. Manatees' bones are predominantly solid cortical bone, granting them a remarkably high density. As their arms have evolved into flippers, the upper arm and forearm bones exhibit an unconventional shape. Measuring approximately 6 inches in length, this juvenile female specimen is now available for printing in its entirety or scaled down to fit any bed size using the NextEngine scanner technology. Educate yourself about zoology by printing this rare and unusual manatee specimen. Use it as a teaching tool or simply gain valuable knowledge about the anatomy of these incredible creatures.
