This is a custom die designed to determine the outcome of Magic: the Gathering's 'Mana Crypt' card. If you're not familiar with the card, check it out here: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=184773. The die has two possible outcomes: "lose 0 life" or "lose 3 life". Half of the faces represent each value. The pictures show a die printed in ColorFabb Bronzefill, which gives it a great weight and feels fantastic in your hand. Next steps will be adding some weathering to make it look amazing. Print Settings: Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer Model: Mini Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: I oriented the faces so you shouldn't need any supports inside the numbers or change the print orientation. If your printer lacks decent cooling, you may get some drooping on top of the numbers. Custom Section: Is this a fair die? A fair die is one that's perfectly balanced and weighted, with rolls completely random and unaffected by the makeup of the die itself. I didn't do any work to determine if this die is truly fair or not. The volume missing from the 3's and 0's looks similar, but one might create a slightly larger (though likely insignificant) negative space than the other. Beyond that, given different printers will design and orient infill differently, it's impossible to create one file that will produce a fair die on every printer across all settings. I'd be surprised if this produces a greatly skewed result one way or another, but if anyone wants to document any bias based on thousands of rolls against a particular set of print settings, I'd love to know the results. The reality is most dice aren't truly fair – even ones produced by popular manufacturers that we buy from today. I think people get hung up on printed dice because they feel it's easier for someone to cheat, but that likelihood is extremely small.
