A mammoth is any species of the extinct genus Mammuthus, one of many genera comprising the order of trunked mammals known as proboscideans. Various species of mammoths were commonly equipped with long, curved tusks and a covering of long hair in northern species. They lived from the Pliocene epoch, around 5 million years ago, into the Holocene era approximately 4,000 years ago. Mammoth species existed in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. They are members of the family Elephantidae, which also includes the two genera of modern elephants and their ancestors. Imaged using a Canon 5DS R camera to capture 108 images, then processed at high levels with Agisoft Photoscan software. This object is scanned by Fossils in Shropshire
