The heart of the harsh desert has few apex predators. In the sky there are rocs or blue dragons, but there is also a fearsome creature on the ground. The mammoth scarab is a gigantic predatory insect just waiting to attack its unwary prey such as traveling caravans or adventurers. They have wings but cannot fly and only use them defensively to throw sand and dust around them to distract their enemies. Although inherently dangerous to most humans, the mammoth scarabs are relatively easy to control for the people of Quaras, sometimes used as powerful beasts of burden or battering rams. If we get enough downloads and you're interested in more, maybe in the future there'll be a tamed version of the Mammoth Scarab with a rider, or one in action that uses its wings to hurl sand and dust at its enemies.
