Third lumbar vertebra of adult Shropshire Mammoth discovered at Condover, Shropshire. Mammoth is a species of extinct genus Mammuthus, one of the many proboscideans that make up an order of trunked mammals. Species of mammoths were commonly equipped with long curved tusks and covered in long hair in northern species. They lived from Pliocene epoch, around 5 million years ago, into Holocene at about 4,000 years ago. Mammoths existed in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America, being members of Elephantidae family. Family also contains modern elephants' two genera and their ancestors. Object scanned using Artec spider scanner and processed with Artec studio 12 software.
