Human: Right unciform bone of the adult Shropshire Mammoth. The unciform is one of the bones in a human wrist or the front foot of a mammoth, forming part of its skeletal structure. A mammoth is any species of the extinct genus Mammuthus, a group of trunked mammals that make up the order proboscideans. These massive creatures were commonly equipped with long, curved tusks and, in northern regions, a thick coat of hair. Mammoths lived from the Pliocene epoch to around 4,000 years ago, existing in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. They are part of the Elephantidae family, which includes modern elephants and their ancestors. This object was scanned by Fossils in Shropshire using a high-tech process that involved capturing 108 images with a canon 5DS R camera, rotating them with a Stackshot 3x turntable, and then processing them at high levels using Agisoft Photoscan software.
