Left Side Lunar Bone of Adult Shropshire Mammoth. The mammoth, an extinct species from the Mammuthus genus, belongs to the proboscidean order, which comprises trunked mammals. Various mammoth species were equipped with long, curved tusks and a thick covering of hair in northern species. They inhabited Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, and lived during the Pliocene epoch, approximately 5 million years ago, until about 4,000 years ago in the Holocene era. This specimen was captured using a Canon 5DS R camera with a Stackshot 3x turntable that produced 108 images. These images were then processed at high levels with Agisoft Photoscan software. This object is part of Fossils in Shropshire collection.
