Mammoth left cuneiform
myminifactory
Left cuneiform bone from the foot of adult Shropshire mammoth. The extinct genus Mammuthus includes many species that belong to the order of trunked mammals called proboscideans, which also contains modern elephants and their ancestors. Long, curved tusks and a covering of long hair characterized northern species of mammoth. They lived from the Pliocene epoch into the Holocene at about 4,000 years ago in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. Various species of mammoth were members of the family Elephantidae, which also contains two genera of modern elephants and their ancestors. Imaged using a Canon 5DS R with Stackshot 3x on a turntable to capture 108 images that were then processed at high levels using Agisoft Photoscan.
