A massive mammal is any species from the extinct Mammuthus genus, one of several genera that comprise the order of trunked mammals called proboscideans. Various species of these giant mammals were often equipped with long, curved tusks and a thick coat of hair in northern regions. They roamed Earth from the Pliocene epoch, around 5 million years ago, into the Holocene era at approximately 4,000 years ago, existing in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. These massive creatures belonged to the Elephantidae family, which also includes modern elephants and their ancestors. Imaged using an Artec spider scanner and processed with Artec studio 12 by M Partridge. This fossilized object is scanned by Fossils in Shropshire.
