Malyan M180 LED Light Bar

This is a LED light bar for the Malyan M180 3D Printer. It snaps over the rear of the extruder carriage and locks into two of the four locating slots. I made use of the 12V LED strips available from Hobbyking. These are available in various colors, so I chose to use white. The LED strips are 8.5mm wide and this light bar can accommodate six LEDs (the strip must be cut in multiples of three). I routed the LED wires along the back of the part and epoxied them into place. Don't use hot glue as it will melt due to the heat of the build plate. I terminated the wires on the light bar with a male JST connector. It's essential to add this connector if you want to remove the extruder assembly from the carriage. I used a female JST connector on the supply wires and routed them through the black plastic sheath and into the base of the printer. I connected these wires to a spare 12V fan output that I found on the control board. Power is supplied to this output as long as the printer is turned on. Installation Notes: There is very little room between the bottom of the part/LED strip and the long metal bracket which holds the glass in-place. This setup works perfectly for me, but if your nozzles don't protrude far enough from your extruder casing, then there's a chance that this part might hit the bracket. A simple fix is to adjust your extruder positions by rotating the filament guide tubes (threaded rods). The back of the light bar is very close to the Y-axis drive motor in the home position. The homing switch for the Y-axis doesn't appear to be adjustable, so I added a small adhesive packer (about 1mm thick) to the Y-axis carriage to avoid interference. Make sure you cover the wire contacts of the LED strip - I used liquid electrical tape. The last thing you want is to damage the control board by shorting the contacts. This part was designed and tested in conjunction with my Dual Fan Blower (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1446174) and the mounting profile is exactly the same. Print Settings: Printer: Malyan M180 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: Printed in Esun black ABS using blue painters tape on bed. Extruders 230deg, bed 110deg. Layer height 0.2mm, 20% infill, supports.
