Malyan M180 Enclosure
thingiverse
I recently acquired my first 3D printer, a Malyan M180. Since it didn't come with an enclosure, I had to create one myself. This enclosure design (top hood, front door + sides) may also be suitable for other 3D printers. The enclosure parts were designed in Inventor, and I laser cut the pieces from 3mm clear acrylic. Some sides will require filing for a more accurate edge when gluing together - I used an acrylic solvent epoxy. I printed this handle: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1228617 And these hinges for the door: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:772303 I used double-sided tape to attach the hinges to the frame temporarily - It has held up well so far, if it fails eventually I will resort to drilling holes for some bolts. Final Update: I have adjusted the Door, and I have a new side panel design. Note that I did not come up with this "gasket" idea, but unfortunately I cannot recall who came up with it...I'll give them proper credit if I remember. The new side panels are 2 pieces that are designed to be fitted between the printer chassis and the plastic side panels, like a gasket. This is the best solution I can think of / have seen thus far - The reason you cannot fit pieces of acrylic on the inside is because the x-axis stepper bracket extends too far. The outer side panel fits on the inside of the plastic outer printer covers, screwed in place with the existing screws. The "window" piece slides down the top and rests in place. The best thing about this new side panel design is that the sides are easily removable...they just slide out! I recommend the outer gasket be 2mm or 3mm acrylic, and the inner window 3mm transparent (clear) acrylic or similar material. I also included DXF files for those people with access to a laser cutter. Any questions, feel free to message me. Otherwise, enjoy guys! Print Settings Printer: Malyan M180 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Notes: Laser Cut
