Maltese Falcon
thingiverse
The maltese Falcon (1941 Bogart version). Full one piece Maltese Falcon with space to add weight and an optional base plate to cover the evidence of the opening. I added an empty core through the model so that I could add some weight to it. I had some 14mm metal pipe lying around from a radiator fitting (actually nearer 14.5mm). I made the hole 15mm and 120mm long in the falcon. Cutting a 118mm length of pipe then filling it with bits of metal, I finally ran some glue through the pipe to make sure nothing rattled, then slid the pipe into the falcon and also glued the pipe in place. My reasoning for making the heavy core before fitting was to guarantee it was filled properly before fitting. I didn't want rattles after filling the falcon so filling and fixing pipe issues would be far easier than only having access to one end and potentially ruining a long print, the pipe itself obviously also added additional weight. Add the core cover to the recess in the base to hide the evidence of the core. Falcon Stands around 150mm tall (around 6 inches). It took most of the day to print. A full sized movie scale falcon was nearer 2 days printing.
