Malibu Low Voltage Landscape Light Christmas Film Cover
thingiverse
I was eager to add some festive flair to my exterior landscape lighting. The low-voltage lights with LED bulbs available at Home Depot or online proved a great starting point. An alternative approach involves replacing the colored gel film in the LED lights themselves, but some of mine are sealed for water-tightness and aren't easily opened. Consequently, I created a sleeve that can be dropped onto your lights, staying securely in place thanks to gravity's natural force. I purchased the vibrant red and green transparent film from Amazon in 8.5" x 11" sheets. To find suitable film, search for "transparent gel film" on Amazon. After cutting the film to fit inside the sleeve, you can secure it with a dab of hot glue on the interior side. This is especially useful when installing or removing the sleeves from your lights. The design was crafted using Tinkercad and can be customized if needed by adjusting its dimensions within Tinkercad itself. Here are the printing specifications I used for my sleeve: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer Model: Printrbot Plus Rafts: Not Used Supports: Not Required Resolution: .3mm layer height Infill Density: 15% Notes: Printing Temperature: 205C (Hotend) and 60C (Bed); I used blue tape and hair spray; print the sleeve top-down initially, without supports.
