I designed an 11-degree total angle cone nosecone that fits snugly onto the Estes Pro Series II 3-inch body tube. It's perfect for use on Improved Malemute and Oriole sounding rockets, where it can really make a difference in terms of performance. To create this cone, I used my 3D printer to produce a single wall spiralized out contour design, with the tip and base featuring a sturdy 4-wall structure made from 40% infill material. After printing, I carefully cut off the top of the cone and attached the tip, making sure it was securely glued in place. Next, I filled the cone with two-part expanding foam, which gave me plenty of room to sculpt the base into a smooth, even surface. Finally, I attached the bottom using a strong adhesive. The result is a sleek and functional nosecone that includes a well-sized opening for 29mm motor mount tubing - ideal for housing a flight computer or tracker in an electronics bay.
