cults3d
This torso is one of a vast series of ancient replicas that are widely recognized as echoing the Diadumenos ("he who binds around his head"), a bronze produced circa 440-430 BCE by Polyclitus. Polyclitus was deeply captivated by the male form and its reproduction according to a precise system of calculations outlined in his treatise, the Canon. The Diadumenos was the culmination of this intellectual approach, which played a groundbreaking role in the history of Greek sculpture.
