Male Portrait (Hellenistic Prince)
myminifactory
The head belonged to a statue that was partially nude, consisting of only fragments found. It was based on the model created by Greek sculptor Lysippos for Alexander the Great's portrait in the IV century B.C. The mouth is half-open and the neck twisted, giving the face an air of pathos. This figure represents a Roman "powerful man" who displays his importance by aligning his appearance with Hellenistic dynasty iconographic tradition. It dates to around the end of the II century B.C.
