Makita DHS680 guide / Rail / track adapter
thingiverse
I own a Makita DHS680 which came with a guide rail adapter consisting of two rods and a guide plate. The guide rails themselves are awesome to make long straight cuts. However i wasn't really satisfied with the accuracy nor the sturdiness of the adapter as the rods would bend easily and it proved impractical for intensive use. Also removing the rail adapter to make other cuts meant aligning the adapter each time on refit. This was too impractical for my use so i decided to print my own adapter to overcome this. I used ksuszka's Makita Guide Rail by August 24, 2018 to get the dimensions instead of measuring the rail myself. Thumbs up for ksuszka's model! Next step was to measure the base plate of the circular saw and make the model in Sketchup. Made a test print to check fitting, made some adaptations and reprinted the whole thing. It fits and glides like a glove. I was thinking of glueing the two printed parts together, but it proved unnecessary. Pro's: - Good fit, no tilting - Glides easily and steady - No refitting, always the same exact cut, so no messing up the splinter guard no more Cons: - You lose a few mm in depth because of the thickness of the printed part.
