Making a stencil out of a JPEG on the Lazor
thingiverse
To create my face stencil, I began with a jpeg and followed a tutorial (http://www.melissaclifton.com/tutorial-stencila.html) until I reached the GIMP. Next, I exported the file as a Photoshop format for importing into Inkscape. After clicking "Trace a Bitmap" under "Paths," I experimented with settings in the dialog box to achieve desired line connectivity. I then created a new white layer and used the pencil tool for tracing before deleting the original layer. Using the "Edit Paths By Nodes" tool, I fixed any errors and ensured connected stencil parts. Finally, I couldn't wait to laser my completed stencil and identify any unconnected areas.
