MAKE magazine is thrilled to announce the completion of nominations for the inaugural MAKE Magazine Industry Maker Awards, affectionately known as "The Makeys." Throughout the past 12 weeks, leading up to our prestigious award ceremony on September 16 at Maker Faire New York 2011 (to be broadcast live from New York City), MAKE has carefully selected and published online profiles of 12 innovative companies that have consistently demonstrated exceptional support for independent maker/hacker culture. A total of three companies/products have been nominated in four distinct categories. This year, the highly coveted physical trophies will be crafted in collaboration with Thingiverse.com (the premier 3D object sharing site) and manufactured by MakerBot Industries (pioneers in 3D printer technology). To learn more about "The Makeys," visit http://makezine.com/makeys. The trophy design was conceived by Jonathan Monaghan, brought to life by Matt Griffin's skilled printing, and inspired by the creative illustration of Kim Dow.
