Makeshift Club-Mate Filament Spool
thingiverse
On 9th December 2018, I discovered that a post about a homemade filament spool for the BfB RepMan 3D printer was uploaded in 2010 but never published (possibly due to embarrassment). Now, I am rectifying this oversight, allowing you to view this DIY creation. Crafted from a ClubMate bottle, a threaded rod, nuts, washers, duct tape, and cardboard, the spool can likely adapt to other printers with minor adjustments or ample tape. Self-explanatory pictures illustrate assembly, including an original method of attaching the rod using duct tape. For those who don't mind a style inconsistency penalty, printing the "spoolclip.stl" twice allows for screwing clips onto the lower half of the threaded rod. Finally, adding WD-40 to a washer or nut at the tip of the rod is optional but can contribute to optimal performance - which, however, is merely adequate.
