MakerTech3D AXIS 3D Printer Upgrades
thingiverse
This is a collection of printable models for addressing some issues with the MakerTech3D AXIS 3D printer. The printer has some excellent qualities but there are some areas that need to be fixed to get acceptable prints. This first model is intended to address lead screw wobble or procession. Changing the coupler from the included plastic one to a metal and poly setup immediately helped. The provided lead screw nut was plastic as well. I changed this to a brass one with a known high quality lead screw. Finally removing the cap and bracket assembly from the top of the screw and adding the bearing assembly virtually eliminates all unwanted movement. With all these models the bearings used unless otherwise noted are 608-2RS 8x22x7mm bearings. These are commonly sold for skateboard and skate bearings. UPDATE (2020-08-31): Spool holders have been added. The bolt on the top of the bracket was just too flimsy. A design like this should have been included for printing after the printer was assembled. UPDATE: V2 for the lead screw bearing guide has been uploaded. This places a cap over the bearing so that it can be pressed down onto the lead screw. This will keep the lead screw from being pushed up. This was originally accomplished with the cap and bracket that was supplied in the kit. I noticed that the lead screw would wonder up over time. This second version adds back the functionality provided by that cap and bracket along with the bearing support.
