MakerSenga
thingiverse
Every minute, at least one woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth, as reported by the World Health Organization (http://www.who.int/features/qa/12/en/index.html). Inspired by this, a collaboration is being initiated with WinSenga team in 2013. The first step involves obtaining an antenatal care medical manikin/simulator. Interested parties can donate one. Excited meetings are scheduled with the WinSenga team in the US, where they will be receiving their Microsoft Imagine Cup award. This collaboration aims to create a MakerSenga - a local Ugandan midwife named 'senga' inspired by the traditional Pinard horn, a 19th-century fetal stethoscope. The MakerSenga can diagnose fetal health by trained practitioners or, when paired with an end cap microphone and WinSenga software, by anyone. This project aims to make pregnancy care more accessible globally.
