MakerModel42 Butterfly Knife (fully 3D printed)
thingiverse
This is a fully articulated 3D printed symmetrical butterfly knife modeled after a Benchmade Model 42 as reference point. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ooNpJtH2Is4" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> Make sure you're familiar with your printer's tolerance settings since the model is designed for ZERO TOLERANCE between the pins and the model. I recommend scaling down the pins to 98 or 99% of their original size before printing, but adjust according to your printer's specifications. To ensure smooth flipping action, lubricate the plastic pins and "break in" your butterfly knife by rapidly moving the handles until the blade flips as desired. Included is the Fusion 360 File that illustrates the joinery. The CAD file was built with methods that may be considered unconventional, so I apologize if you're not satisfied with its construction due to these practices.
