Makerlele Body Test

Makerlele Body Test

thingiverse

In collaboration with Bradkenney, we experimented with a Makerlele body to enhance its solidity by designing an elliptical cavity narrowing towards the front hole and featuring thick walls. Printed at 100% infill, it resulted in a strong voice reflection into the face upon talking through the soundhole. Interestingly, the body cavity has a parabolic shape which explains this effect. The back of the drum offers a great sweet spot for drumming near the bridge's internal chamber. Future drums will be printed with 100% infill. The strummed sound wasn't as impressive, prompting us to consider trying a properly parabolic resonance chamber with the focal point at the strings' Z-level in our next experiment.
