Makergear M2 Spool Holder
thingiverse
This Makergear M2 3D printer's alternative spool holder design is compatible with various spools, as it eliminates the requirement of a perfect flange on the spool. It maintains the original hardware for mounting and does not necessitate any modifications to the printer. Printed in PLA, this holder can easily accommodate a 5lb spool. The extension piece uses 1/2 schedule 40 PCV tube cut to 5 1/2", which can be bought at local stores like Menards or Lowes for $1.25. Included is an .stl file for the tube, and all parts can be printed within an hour. For installation, remove the original center piece and spool holders, transferring the steel rod to the new one. Insert the PVC tube into the new centerpiece and attach the new spool cap at the end of the tube. Additionally, an .stl file for mini spools (17.5mm-tube) has been provided, which should work with all spools having a center hole over 17.5 mm.
