MakerGear M2 Printer Spool Holder -- 3/4" End Caps
thingiverse
The MakerGear M2's filament spool mount works optimally for thick-edge MakerGear spools; however, a modification suggested by Thingiverse's Thing 37210 is more suitable for other types of spools. Simultaneous mounting allows for easy switching between spools. Nevertheless, some vendors like MatterHackers use spools with small core holes that the rod from Thing 37210 may not fit through. To solve this issue, create an end cap designed for a standard 3/4" wooden dowel from Thing 37210's file, instead of the original one. This end cap is simple to print in ABS or PLA. While printing, position the "M2" label at the top to avoid mess inside the cap. You will need two end caps to cover both ends of the dowel; they are not glued on for easy dowel passing through spool centers. To complete the setup, use an 8-inch-long 3/4" dowel.
