Makergear M2 Extruder Fan Duct
thingiverse
This is a hybrid filament drive, reworked from rsilvers Super Filament Path (found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:267137). The duct accepts a 40mm fan and attaches on the side of the filament drive. Images reveal that I rotate the hot end so the wires stretch to the printer's front to minimize clearance between the fan duct and extruder tip. The rod connects the filament drive and fan, using dovetail joints. An additional male dovetail inside the filament drive allows for mounting a second cooling fan on top, which will be added separately. I printed my hybrid in ABS. For the Super Filament Path, I scaled it up 2% to offset shrinkage but still need several minutes with a file to get the hot end fitting smoothly into its groove. Furthermore, a 5/64 drill bit is used to widen the filament path slightly, avoiding any binding issues.
