Cricut Cutting Blade Attachment for Makergear M2 Disclaimer: This is a work in progress. The attachment is not suitable for average users. Advanced knowledge of the M2 printer, including Z-stop movement and calibration, g-code editing, and slicer settings, is required to make it work. If you're not an advanced printer user, please do not attempt to use this attachment. I make no guarantees or warranties regarding the accuracy or completeness of the information provided here, nor the results obtained from accessing and using it. Hardware Requirements: (2) 8/32" x 3/4" Flat Head Screws (2) 8/32" Nuts (1) 6/32" x 7/8" Socket Head Screw (2) 6/32" x 1/2" Socket Head Screws (3) 6/32" Heat Set Inserts Cricut Deep Cut Blade and Housing (2001401) Cricut Adhesive Cutting Mat (2001974) The attachment is designed for use on the Makergear M2 with V4 hotend. The Filamet Drive and Hot end are removed, and the blade attachment mounts to the V4 mount using the listed hardware. The blade holder has a cutting depth adjustment feature that can be accessed by turning the top dial; however, your Z-stop height may need to be adjusted accordingly. For best results, use a thick craft-type paper. Regular printer paper will likely tear instead of being cut. You'll need to figure out the correct settings for your printer and software. Some features, such as the initial wipe feature, should be removed from the start-up script. Important basics include: Top and Bottom Layers = 0 Outline/Perimeter Shells = 1 Retraction Vertical Lift = 1-2 mm (very important to lift the blade when crossing open areas) No skirts or brims One print/cutting layer is recommended, with a layer height of .10 mm and a stop printing feature set to .10mm Printing/cutting speed will depend on your paper type. I used 2000 mm/min with the first layer set to 50%, which is likely equivalent to 1000 mm/min. This attachment has been used successfully for making lettering from vinyl, but achieving the correct Z-height and bed level can be tricky.
