Makerfire Gate Holder
thingiverse
I purchased Makerfire gates from Good Venture Drones, which come equipped with hooks to hang them. Initially, I considered stapling them in various spots around my house to create a track but ultimately decided that would be too much of a hassle. Next, I thought about creating a stand with feet, and then the idea struck me to design a foot that could be screwed into a wall, door, shelf, or any other surface. Meanwhile, someone in the Facebook 2S POWER-WHOOP GROUP asked me about hanging them from the ceiling, prompting me to create a holder with a small lip that allows you to pop the gate into place and provides a loose fit but prevents it from falling out. I also added holes for pins in the mount so they won't fall out. I came up with the idea of a spike that could be pushed into the grass, which would work well during the summer months. However, since it's currently winter, I only printed what I needed for flying inside my house. As a result, I have many more designs than the number of printed parts, as I simply printed what was necessary. I attempted to create a mount for every possible need. The printed parts fit perfectly in the middle of the gates when they are folded and placed in their carry bags, keeping all three gates together in one bag. With the mounts securely screwed into my house, I can set up and dismantle my indoor track in under 10 minutes. Although the mounts may fit other gates with a 27-inch diameter, I don't have any others to test them with, so feel free to try it out and let me know if they work for you. I designed the holder so that you could use a cotter pin to secure it to the foot/mount, but I also included a printable pin as an alternative. I hope I've thought of all possible permutations of the foot/mount, but if I've missed anything, please let me know. I printed the parts at a 0.2mm layer height with three perimeters and allowed for variable infill. The holder and two feet required support material, while everything else did not.
