MakerFarm Prusa i3v Z Axis Couplers
thingiverse
MakerFarm Prusa i3v Z Axis Couplers are designed to fit snugly onto the stepper shaft with minimal interference. The dimensioned .022" over allowance accounts for material shrinkage during printing. To ensure a smooth lead screw connection, clean up the I.D. with a .187" drill bit, removing very little material in the process. This will allow the coupler to thread straight onto the lead screw. It's essential to clean up both coupler mating surfaces so they fit together seamlessly. Since the heat from the motor shaft may soften PLA materials in the motor side coupler, consider using ABS, PETG, or Nylon instead for better durability. To simplify the assembly process, use version 2 of the couplers, which are designed to snap together easily. This updated design also features a resized lead screw side I.D., eliminating the need for a drill bit and providing a tighter fit on the stepper shaft. If X-axis rail clearance is an issue or you prefer smaller couplers, opt for ZAxisCouplers_Short. Recent updates have added M5 x .8 threads to the lead screw side couplers, improving their functionality. Additionally, the group quantity has been reduced by half, allowing you to print only two pieces at a time instead of four. A split clamp style stepper side coupler with M3 x .5 threads has also been introduced for greater flexibility in assembly.
