Makerfarm i3v - MB Plus HotEnd mount.

thingiverse

I purchased an MB Plus hotend (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:637748) as my E3DV6 tragically broke, and I wanted to try something new. Since I couldn't get it mounted to my X carriage and couldn't find any designs to mount it on my printer, I came up with my own design. I made two designs - one has arms that go into the X backplate and one without arms, using M3 nut and bolt slots so you can use the original wooden arms. The design with arms will print just fine with supports added. I've also included SolidWorks part files. I'm using a direct drive extruder made by someone at YouMagine.com, but the original extruder (Wades) that came with my i3v printer should work with this design without issues. The hotend requires a 5mm mounting plate; the one I have is standard, but if you purchased yours with an E3D hotend, it would come with a 6mm plate. You could either buy the plate or print one - there are probably some designs available online. I'll likely improve on this design in the future, but for now it works great. I'm all over the place today, so I may have forgotten to mention any details. If you need help, ask away in the comments. Update: Version 2 of the plate with arms is now available. I went back to the Wades extruder and found that my hotend was sagging too much, so I had to go back into SolidWorks and work on a new design. It's now much better, with zero sag whatsoever.
