Makerbot Z-axis Caps
thingiverse
These four caps are designed for the tops of 8mm threaded rods controlling the Z-axis on a MakerBot. Created in OpenSCAD to learn CSG modeling, they protect your car's glove compartment from scratches caused by rough metal rod ends. Each cap is a cylinder with a cone segment subtracted, fitting tightly and allowing for Z-axis adjustment. Parametric design allows customization for different threaded rods. To use, open endcaps.scad in OpenSCAD, compile and render the design, export to STL, then follow Skeinforge print process. If a smoother finish is desired, print each cap individually by modifying the code and repeating the process.
