Makerbot Smart Extruder + (plus) Jig
thingiverse
The smart extruder+ is held together by a clever design that allows for easy disassembly and reassembly. The device features a unique system of tolerances that must be carefully aligned in order to function properly. I've taken it upon myself to create a solution that makes this process easier, and I'm pleased to report that the smart extruder+ now includes accessible pins on its backside. For added convenience, the design incorporates holes for four or five millimeter diameter magnets, allowing users to attach the device magnetically if they so choose. This feature is sure to be a hit with those who value ease of use and flexibility. As for potential upgrades, I have several ideas in mind that could take this design to the next level. Firstly, I envision a taller nozzle holder that would provide extra support and stability for the device. Secondly, I'd like to add holes to allow access to the case screws from the back, making it easier to perform routine maintenance tasks. Furthermore, I think an extension at the bottom of the device could be beneficial in showing users where the end of the nozzle should be positioned. And finally, I believe adding markings to indicate the correct alignment for the heat-spreader fans, heat block, and other critical components would be a great way to enhance user experience and reduce errors.
