Makerbot Serial Controller - MakeIRbot

thingiverse

This Arduino project allows Makerbot control via an IR remote, simplifying connections. Original code by codexmas is on GitHub, with this version adding features from his last commit. It offers similar controls to ReplicatorG without a computer, including displaying firmware versions and temps, setting temps, jogging axes, controlling extruder speed, printing files from SD card, managing fan, and resetting Makerbot. Required components include Arduino, Hitachi 44780 LCD, 38KHz IR receiver, and an Apple Remote (preferably over a Sony one). Code uses MenuBackend and IRremote libraries, compatible with Arduino-1.0 IDE. To build, wire display, program Arduino, connect it to Makerbot's FTDI header, input remote codes into the sketch, then reprogram. Designed for Cupcake Makerbot with 5D shield and v3.1 firmware but may work on Thing-o-matic as well; jog function may need adjustment for older models. V1.9 added settable jog distance, while V1.91 corrected Serial_Commands.ino.
