Makerbot replicator 2 front plate hinge

Makerbot replicator 2 front plate hinge

This is a hinge I specifically designed to match up with my MakerBot Rep 2 mounting holes found behind the front panel. To accomplish this, I just drilled through the front panel to access the existing metal frame holes and cut a piece of acrylic for the new front panel on a laser cutter. This removable hinge makes it easy to put back on after use, and I've made sure it's not going to cause any issues when in operation. However, I haven't personally tested this design with my Replicator 2x yet, but I believe the holes for the metal frame should remain consistent between models, and the acrylic layout is probably going to be identical too, but a double-check won't go amiss. To assemble the part, print two identical units. After that, carefully drill matching holes in both your front plate and the new acrylic sheet. This will give you enough room to fit them together properly without causing any damage or scratches during use.
