Makerbot Filament Spindle
thingiverse
This Erik-designed filament spindle, available on Thingiverse, is specifically made for use with Makerbot rather than RepRap due to structural differences. The original model doesn't fit Makerbot Cupcake CNC. However, by adding the stand, it becomes compatible with any system. Nonetheless, issues persist, such as the spindle spinning too freely, causing filament unwinding, and its lightweight base being prone to toppling. Solutions include adding friction via a screw or increasing the base size. Assembly instructions are pending, and cutting M8 rods and bearings brackets require careful filing and potentially thinner acrylic for easier tightening. Pre-test your files in Acrylic for any necessary adjustments.
