Firstly, the enclosure was constructed with noise reduction in mind; however, it now also functions as an effective heat and humidity insulator, thus reducing warpage. A vent hole is located at the bottom to release Makerbot power supply heat. The top shelf supplies ABS filament by resting on display boards taped to the enclosure's sides, reinforced with balsa wood for support. White duct tape holds the 20" x 30" display boards together. Sound deadening is achieved through meshed shelf lining adhered to the inner walls of the enclosure, which sits on a work table.
