MakerBot Digitizer LaserCat - Layer thickness tests
myminifactory
The MakerBot Digitizer laser-scanned a scaled-down version of the Laser Cat model, reduced to 50 mm in height. This model was then printed with six different layer thicknesses: 0.40 mm (400 microns), 0.30 mm (300 microns), 0.20 mm (200 microns), 0.10 mm (100 microns) - equivalent to the average width of a human hair strand, 0.05 mm (50 microns), and 0.02 mm (20 microns). Each model was printed on a MakerBot Replicator 2 using TRUE BLUE PLA plastic at 230 degrees Celsius. All models were printed with MakerWare's standard settings: 15% infill, two perimeters, and speeds of 90 mm/s for layer thicknesses above 50 microns, 60 mm/s for 50 micron layers, and 40 mm/s for 20 micron layers.
