Firstly a huge shoutout goes out to these incredible individuals... jarretthollis for the game-changing checker grid matrix, and gtharris61 for generously providing PDF scans, and being super patient with my multitude of questions about his OEM calibration tool. I've been pestering these guys nonstop over the past week or so, but after 5 iterations of this tool, I'm thrilled to say that I now have a calibration tool that is 100% spot on, and enables my makerbot to produce some incredibly precise results. Take a close look at the pictures, as the red circles clearly indicate where you should align the grid matrix sheets. It's absolutely crucial that they're lined up precisely - any slight deviation from those lines will render your makerbot completely useless. Also pay attention to the orientation of the grid matrix sheets, as this is equally important. I've attached the stl files for printing below. The settings are listed below as well.
