The MakerBot Defender, codenamed MD-B12, is a robust soldier ant designed to protect its colony like its natural counterpart. Built with ABS plastic on a heated platform, this machine features upgraded parts that solve loose joint issues and strengthen moving components. It currently has moveable tank treads, a defensive cannon launching non-lethal smoke projectiles, and an infrared camera mounted on the shoulder for temperature accuracy. The arms are equipped with claws that can open and hold in any position, with upgrades planned for future versions. This MakerBot model is highly upgradeable, as features like the mounted cannon and infrared camera can be easily removed for replacements. It measures approximately 7" wide x 8.5" deep x 7" tall.
