Not sure why so many folks insist on overcomplicating things. This simple device empowers anyone with a 5th Generation printer to utilize the 1KG PLA 1.75mm filament spools from Inland, available for just 15 bucks at http://www.microcenter.com/product/434394/175mm_Black_PLA_3D_Printer_Filament_-_1kg_Spool_(22_lbs). I exclusively use this and ninja-flex stuff; nothing else gets the job done. Note that this adapter requires a SMART EXTRUDER +, as it will not work with the original smart extruder prone to false jams. After testing this adapter for over 60 hours of printing since I upgraded to my SMART EXTRUDER + last week, replacing the inferior original extruder, I'm planning to create similar adapters for other types of spools in the near future.
