MakerBot 2X : Automatic Door Latch
thingiverse
Due to the addition of my recent camera attachment to the front door of my MakerBot, an excessive weight is introduced which hinders the door's ability to remain ajar indefinitely. I have developed an automatic latch design that allows the door to be propped open effortlessly, eliminating this issue altogether. This latch system utilizes the existing bolt holes in the 2X structure and can be attached seamlessly with minimal adjustments required. Nevertheless, it does necessitate longer bolts than originally employed for optimal performance. Furthermore, a 3mm metal rod functions as the axis of the system. To render this design truly automatic, I have incorporated a spring into the mechanism. As a result, when the system is at rest, the latch remains securely in its closed position. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0MLV1cKca0
