A Versatile Mount for Your GoPro Camera on a Maker Select/Wanhao Duplicator 3D Printer Get ready to capture stunning footage with this simple yet effective mount for your GoPro-style camera on your Maker Select or Wanhao duplicator 3D printer. This versatile design can also support lightweight cameras, making it a must-have accessory for any enthusiast. To assemble the mount, you'll need a 1/4" mini binder clip and a mounting screw/nut. Follow these easy steps: Print Settings: Printer: Maker Select 3d v2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .16mm Infill: 35% Notes: For optimal results, use 3 perimeters with a wall thickness of 1.2mm. Post-Printing: Required extras include a 1/4" mini binder clip to secure the mount to the lower build plate frame and a GoPro/M5 nut and screw to attach your camera. I used a Lightdow action cam and substituted the nut and screw from another mount I had on hand. Assembly is a breeze: First, attach your camera to the mount. Next, slide the printed mount onto the lower build plate frame, ensuring the L-bend fits snugly around the screw. Since there are files for each corner, be sure to print the right one for your needs. You may notice a slight bulge in the plate, but don't worry – the printed mount should rest against it, and the L-bend should be flush with the edge. To complete the assembly, place the binder clip over both the plate and the printed mount, as shown in the photos. With plenty of clearance, you'll want to move the build plate on the entire Y-axis to ensure smooth movement. How I Designed This I experimented with several existing designs before creating this one. The first attempt was a plate mount that could only be attached to the front, but the Maker Select fan obstructed the view. Other builds, like those found on Thingiverse (1739439 and 1072317), warped when the bed heated or took up too much space on the build plate. I also considered the design here (1399434), but it bumped into the Y-brace in extreme print positions. Another mount required disassembling the build plate, which wasn't ideal for easy camera movement. Taking inspiration from these designs, I created this simple L-shaped support using a cheap mini binder clip to attach it securely to the lower bed frame plate. I designed this mount using TinkerCad.
