I'm looking for a reliable way to enhance extruder cooling on my Monoprice/Wanhao Maker Select 3D printer. The stock 40mm Axial heatsink fan just isn't cutting it - it's not providing enough cooling power, especially when I'm using an upgraded all-metal hotend. This can lead to heat-creep traveling up the filament and jamming my extruder. To address this issue, I've designed a heatsink duct that converts the stock fan setup to use a more powerful 50x50x15mm snail fan instead. This upgrade will provide the necessary cooling power to prevent heat-creep and ensure smooth printing operations. The new design is compatible with popular Z-Brace Frame mods, which are widely used in the community. Additionally, it also works seamlessly with the 'Diicooler' hotend cooling mod, another popular upgrade for 3D printers. A similar concept exists on Thingiverse, but unfortunately, that particular model mounts the fan to the side of the head and would collide with Z-Brace Kits. Since I couldn't remix the original design due to licensing restrictions, I decided to create my own model from scratch. My version mounts the fan out front, ensuring a safe and collision-free setup.
