The Maker Select V2 comes equipped with a spool holder that falls woefully short for most standard spools. This design flaw is compounded by existing spool holder components, necessitating the use of full-sized spools and solving several problems inherent in other spool holder designs. The Wanhao Duplicator i3 can also make good use of this modification. Inspired by Michael Miller's ingenious creation, https://www.myminifactory.com/object/maker-select-wanhao-duplicator-i3-spool-holder-adapter-23221, this design boasts several key features not found in existing models. Notably, it is longer, allowing normal spools to fit with room to spare. The radius that interfaces with the spool is significantly wider, providing a smoother fit for most spools and eliminating any issues associated with rotation. A crucial feature of this design is its ability to accommodate a "key" piece that prevents slippage over time. To utilize this design, rotate the original spool holder shipped with your machine 180 degrees, so the square channel faces upward. Next, insert the printed design through the original spool holder, ensuring the rounded side faces upward. Finally, take the small key piece and insert it into the spool holder print, securing it in place to prevent free movement. Print Settings Printer: Maker Select V2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 25% Notes: I printed this design using PETG with a slow setting for the outer layer to achieve an extremely smooth surface, facilitating easy spool-sliding. The resulting print is remarkably sturdy in PETG at 25% infill, and it's likely that other materials will also be sufficiently strong at this level. Post-Printing To utilize this design, rotate the original spool holder shipped with your machine 180 degrees, so the square channel faces upward. Next, insert the printed design through the original spool holder, ensuring the rounded side faces upward. Finally, take the small key piece and insert it into the spool holder print, securing it in place to prevent free movement.
