Maker Select Universal Spool Holder

Maker Select Universal Spool Holder

I designed a custom spool holder that fits all my Taulman 3D nylon spools without any adapters, which was not possible with the stock maker select. I created this design to eliminate the need for spool adapters in many designs. The top pole mount features a spline at the bottom to keep all spools centered, regardless of size. I've uploaded the .step files if anyone wants to modify them. The originals were created using Solidworks. Be aware that the dimensions of the bearing mating surfaces might require adjustment based on your printer's tolerances. They should fit snugly. You'll only need one 608 Skate bearing for the mount and a small piece of PTFE is optional for the filament guide. Spools turn smoothly, but ensure your bearings have enough friction to prevent unwinding. V2 of this design no longer uses a bearing, instead relying on print settings to maintain sufficient friction and prevent spool unwinding. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 200 micron Infill: 20% Notes: I printed these with ABS, but PLA or PETG should work equally well.
