Maker Select Filament Guides

Update 1/20/17: A couple of people pointed out how big the guide is and how it really doesn't need to be that big and thick. So, I have also made a 'mini' version of the guide called the Thin Guide! The thin filament guide is much smaller and thinner than the original but still fits the printer great and works like a charm! It also uses way less filament and prints much faster! If you're looking for a guide without all that baggage, then try it out! Let me know what you think! A remix of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1657012 designed to lay flat on the print bed so that it requires less supports to print. I also wanted something a little sleeker and more simplistic design wise. This filament guide is designed to fit the Monoprice Maker Select 3D printer and all its relatives (Wanhao Duplicator i3, etc). The guide clips onto the top of the frame and is easily moveable. While many other filament guides for the i3 are designed to be screwed in along side the filament spool holder, this one is designed to go on without any needed hardware. I have my filament spool holder mounted on the control box currently (and it will be mounted on top of the enclosure soon) and wanted something that fits on the printer without needing to buy screws for it. This is my first design ever, and I'm pretty darn proud of it. Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Maker Select V2.1 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .1mm Infill: 20% Notes: I printed my prototype that I use now at .01mm layer height and 20% infill. You are free to change those up at your own whim and will. I like using .01 layer height for the look, and the 20% layer height was to help with the top/bottom surfaces. If you can get away with using less infill go right ahead! How I Designed This I designed this all using Fusion 360. Since this was my first ever 3D model it took me quite a while to get used to the interface and different tools. I am so grateful for all the online communities and posts that helped me solve my problems and figure out how to accomplish this. I wasn't able to find a great way to edit the .stl model from the original, so I ended up designing everything from scratch while borrowing measurements and ideas from the original. It was definitely a great learning experience.
