This is a front valve air filter pod for the MakerMask (https://www.makermask.com/). The pod is an extra modification created to help cover the outgoing air valve with a filter, adding extra protection without being part of the original Maker Mask project. Version 1 of the filter cover "fits" on the existing front valve cover but does not create a great seal and can be loose. This version is recommended for retrofitting existing front valve assemblies, offering an easy upgrade to enhance air quality. Version 2 of the filter cover is designed to better fit with the modified front valve cover (Front Valve Cover v2). These versions feature sloped surfaces that lock into place securely, providing a tighter seal and improved protection. The filter guards come in different sizes to accommodate various filter materials. Version 2.1 of the front valve cover corrects the orientation of the side grooves for a better fit. The Outlet Air Filter Cover version 2.1 also adds strength to the bottom clip, requiring slight adjustments if necessary. Version 2.2 of the Outlet Air Filter Cover features wedges on the inside clips to prevent snapping during filter changes, ensuring smooth and easy maintenance. To install, simply cut filter material to fit into the main filter cover, place it in your filter cover, and attach an appropriately sized filter guard. The pod assembly slides onto the front valve (either version) from the top down, best assembled after side filters are fitted. When working on any COVID/Med PPE project, take necessary precautions to sanitize your workspace, using gloves, masks, shields, and avoiding assembly or delivery if you're ill or someone in your home is unwell. This filter pod offers additional protection but has not been reviewed by governing authorities. Since creating this cover, Maker Mask has developed a newer front valve assembly with a built-in filter inside the mask. To print the pod, you'll need the Maker Mask v3.27 valve, retention ring, and grommet. It's possible that this will work with other versions, but this is the one used when designing the pod.
