Maker Faire Chicago Northside Scans

Join me on Twitter @MoceriMike to stay updated on my projects! I recently showcased an impressive demo at Mini Maker Faire Chicago Northside, promoting MakerBot and the potential of 3D printing. Chicago-based artist Patrick Lichty joined me in this event. Our setup included two Kinects for scanning, a TV connected to my computer displaying the modeling process, Thing-o-Matic printers by both Patrick and myself, and an assortment of promotional items. Attendees were able to take home 3D printed models of themselves as part of the experience. To learn more about the process we used, you can refer to our event card (click on the second image). I scaled the models down to .1, sliced them using my custom skeinforge profile, set a height of .27mm, printed at 100mm/s with Jetty's acceleration and Dan Newman's .altshell skeinforge plugin, and used a MK8 nozzle on my MK7 extruder for fast printing with excellent quality.
