Two prototype coin designs share a similar structure - five concentric rings that rotate freely around pivot points. The "maker coin 2" model has two versions: "2w" features wider gaps between rings for easier separation, while the second design, "maker coin 4", boasts an additional pattern embossed on top; again, "4w" includes wider gaps. The surface finish seen in photos is generated by a slicer (Slic3r): the recessed area is filled with gyroid infill and lacks a top layer, while the raised surface features the Hilbert curve pattern. To achieve different settings for various parts of the model, I utilized Slic3r modifier mesh, which is included as a second STL file (4x.stl). This tool allows the slicer to apply distinct settings to areas within the "box" created by the second file; I set primary settings for sparse infill and the Hilbert curve top layer pattern, while modified settings inside the box specify 50% gyroid infill and zero top layers. Printed on a Prusa i3 MK2.5 with diverse filaments, the showcased coins are crafted from Filamentum Gold Happens and Filamentum Vertigo Grey.
